Joelle:
It's hard to believe that it is five years since Gerry's death. It seems like yesterday that we were having fun working at the VA and in Building 10. Just the other day some of us were reminiscing about those days and remembering the good times, when we found some old pictures. I also thought of Gerry recently when
Anne Kremer let us know that Bill Kremer died just a few weeks ago and I was in touch with John Laszlo and Hal Silberman who are still trooping along. I hope you and the kids are doing well. Sandy and I both send our regards and hope you can be in touch. By the way Jon and Dorothy Gockerman recently moved to Cinncinnati to be near their kids and are doing well. Stay safe and well. Dr. Logue was an amazing physician, mentor, and a teacher of medicine and life. For me, he was a father figure from whom I sought advice not only in hematology and medicine, but for life in general and cars in particular. Joelle, I express my deepest sorrow and sympathy to you and your children.

I just recently read of Dr. Logue's passing, and have fond memories of him as a teacher, and as leader who was excellent at knowing how to effectively manage people and get them to reach for their best. He taught me methods of how to deal with and engage professionals, and these approaches I still use today. He was a wonderful man and a role-model to me. My condolences to his family.

Joelle,

Dear Joelle, Christopher, Timothy and Nicholas,
It was with great sadness that Dorothy and I learned of Jerry's death on the 7th of June. His passing from this Planet Earth is a great loss for he represented the best in a human being. He was blessed with outstanding intelligence which he blended with common sense so that he excelled at all he did from loving you and your sons to medicine. Dorothy and I were always inspired by the love you both showed Timothy, Christopher and Nicholas. You allowed and supported each of your sons in their development to the success they are today. Jerry was very supportive and kind to me as a fellow at Duke and in the years thereafter. We retain found memories of the time shared in Washington DC and the trips we took with the children to various places in the area. We felt a deep friendship develop with you during those early years. Though distance has kept us apart in these later years, we always look forward to your Christmas letter to keep us informed as to how Jerry, you and the boys were doing. We will always remember Jerry as a human being who was kind, considerate, and thoughtful to all he met and was able to use his humor to make any situation better. Such traits are rare in human beings. When I went to his home in the fall to hunt deer and spent most of the night and all the next waiting for them, but never seeing a deer, he reminded me of what a beautiful time in the woods we had.I agreed and we both laughed together.
Joelle, you and your family remain in our prayers and thoughts.

Joelle, Chris, Tim and Nick: I was so sorry to hear about Gerry's death. He was a terrific guy and I was always super fond of him. Marv Rozear and I were just reminiscing the other day about when he and Gerry were my interns at the VA and what a great time we had. That great time continued throughout the time he was at Duke. My regret is that we did not have as much opportunity to get to see each other at meetings over the years due to his mobility problems. Nevertheless I am so glad that we had the opportunity to reconnect a couple of months ago and reminisce about the good old days in Building 10! I know that Gerry will be greatly missed but I hope you will all be sustained by the many fantastic memories you (and all of us) have of him. My deepest condolences and prayers are with you all.

"You are here to learn a new language" then he pointed at me to say "Greek mostly and a few Latin" I will frame the letters That Dr. Logue mailed me thanking me. I will miss you my friend.
