Guy Oliver Walser Jr.

Guy Walser Obituary

WALSER-Guy Oliver, Jr. April 7, 2008 of Williamsville NY. Beloved husband, of 51 years, to Gay C. Walser; dear father of Gay K. Walser, Guy Oliver Walser III, Rebecca L. Walser, Hugh C. Walser, Michael J. Walser and dogs Buddy and Shelby; loving father in-law of Michelle Walser and Jennifer Walser; beloved grandfather to Joshua A. Walser, Bryan M. Walser, Benjamin O. Walser, Carter B. Walser. Survived by his brother Richard Walser and family of Long Island NY. Man of great faith and love. He served his country in both WWII and Korea. He served his faith in the priesthood since 1964 and retired from GM Harrison Radiators, Lockport NY. He was a neighborhood icon for 38 years in the Village of Williamsville, always ready with a helping hand, a smile and a joke. An early (sidewalk shopper) garbage picker/recycler and scintillating conversationalist, he was a rare gentleman's gentleman in today's world. Part of the greatest generation of all time, the world is a lesser place without him. All flower donations are gratefully declined and memorials may be sent to Hospice Foundation, 225 Como Park Blvd PO Box 590, Buffalo NY 14240 or Canaan Ministries, 1140 Walden Ave., Cheektowaga NY 14211. A Holy Eucharist Memorial Service will be held in All Saints Episcopal Church on Maple Rd and N. Forest Rd. Thursday morning at 11:00 o'clock. Friends invited. Mr. Walser (I can't help but call him that) will be missed greatly. There aren't many people like him in this world. He was a truly gentle and giving person who just made you feel good to be around him.

I think we all could benefit from developing some of the personal traits that seemed to come so naturally to him.

I do know that he passed along many of those traits to his kids who should be extremely proud to have a father who was a great human being.

My thoughts and prayers are with the entire Walser family. He'll be missed!

Guy had the distinction of being both an inspiration to gentleness for my parents and a model of the handiman to me. In his life he seemed to combine both the ideals of prayer and the reality of work.

Requiem aeternam dona eis Domine
et lux perpetua luceat eis.

I will pray for the repose of his soul.

To the family of Guy

Guy will be deeply missed. He was one of the nicest customers my brother and I did work for. He was great person to talk to. You are in our thoughts and prayers.
