Beloved husband of the late Adele Becker died Sunday, January 29th in his Williamsville home surrounded by loved ones. He was 94. Born Harold Daniel Becker in Buffalo in 1928, Harold graduated from Buffalo Technical High School in 1946, graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering in 1951, and earned a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Buffalo in 1958. He was a research engineer in the Avionics Department at Cornell Aeronautical Laboratory (which later became Calspan) until 1980. Harold holds two US patents for precise electronic distance measuring equipment. From 1980 until 1991, he was an Assistant Professor of Engineering Technology at SUNY Buffalo State. Harold was an avid and accomplished tennis player. He won over 50 state and local tennis championships and also won a national title in the 1973 National Public Parks 45 and over doubles championship with Glenn Miller. In retirement, Harold continued to enjoy tennis and also became a model plane enthusiast. He built and flew radio controlled model sailplanes and was a member of the Western New York Sailplane and Electric Flyers Club. Harold was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church for most of his life and was more recently a member at St. Mark's Episcopal Church. Survivors include his son Donald (Kazumi), daughter Judy (James Marvin), grandchildren Brooke (Jeremiah), Marley (Amanda), Lorelle (Nicholas), Bryan (Jennifer), and Bradley (Bryanne), and five great-grandchildren.
