Age 94 of Derby, formerly of Lackawanna, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on November 30, 2023.Beloved husband of Rose A. (nee Ilich) Malyak for 68 wonderful years. Devoted father of Dr. Phillip (Donna) Malyak of Canton, MA, and Peter (Janice) Malyak of Avon, CT. Devoted grandfather of Kristin (Tim), Anna and Erik. Loving son of the late Anna and Peter Malyak; dear brother of Michael (late Barbara), Joanne (Michael) Kresovich and the late Nicholas (Melva) Malyak; also loved by many nieces and nephews. Herb was a proud Veteran of the US Air Force. He worked as a Supervisor at Bethlehem Steel, as well as Deputy Commissioner of the Erie County Board of Elections. He served as Chairman of the Lackawanna Republican Party for many years. He loved travel and politics. He enjoyed life at The Bluffs on Lake Erie, where he endeared a circle of many dedicated friends. Family and friends are invited to visit the LOMBARDO FUNERAL HOME (Southtowns Chapel) 3060 Abbott Rd. near Lake Ave. on Sunday (December 3) from 5-8 PM, where a Pomen Service will take place at 7 PM. A Funeral Service will be held at Saint Stephen Serbian Orthodox Church, 177 Weber Rd. at the corner of Abbott Rd., Lackawanna on Monday (December 4) at 11 o'clock. Please assemble at Church.
