Greg,
Last year on this day I sent you a birthday card. It felt so good to brighten your day. Even though you are not with us on your special day, I still want to wish you a "Happy Birthday". And don't worry, since everything was a celebration for you, I know your friends and family will be celebrating for you.

To the Hoelscher Family,
My heartfelt prayers and condolences go out to you. The past few summers I had a chance to catch up with Greg during a few rounds of golf. Greg was a great man and it was my privilege to spend time with him. He was so very proud of his family and was great example of what a real father and husband should be. I am proud to say he was a friend.
Yours Truly,

To the Hoelscher Family, Especially Annette,Jesse and Jude. My heart goes out to all of you with the passing of Greg. I am so thankful I was fortunate to have known and loved such a wonderful person. I remember the days when I use to read the Batman action words to him with sound effects and all. To this day when I see this cartoon I think of Greg as a little boy. We may all not understand why God does the things he does....But I know there has to be a reason. One day we will find the reason and be reunited. My love to all Linda [Lin] Debbie,Chrissy and Jenny's mom...

Dear Annette, Jesse, Sue, Trish, Jack, Jamie, Carole, Bert, Myles, Peter and the rest of the Hoelscher family,
I still can't believe this has happened, but I'm comforted by the fact that by his faith and good deeds Greg has been rewarded for a job well done. Our loss is Heaven's gain and we will see him again.
A better man and friend I will never know! Thank you for making me feel like family and God bless you all!

Dear Annette, Jesse, Jude, Jack, Jamie,Trish, Sue and all the Hoelscher Clan:
All of us who knew "J. Gregor" are truly priviledged to have been called his friend. Soon the time will come for each of us to follow his example and be the light & the way for someone in need. Greg literally touched thousands of lives in his lifetime. If we each do just one act of kindness in his memory for family, friends or a stranger his spirit will be there to guide us.
Until we meet again my friend.

To Annette and all my Hoelscher cousins:
Although I don't see you often, I want you to know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers today. My memories of Greg are of him surrounded by family and friends at a Fourth of July picnic and at the reunion a few years ago. Family was obviously so important to him, and that will make it hard for all of you in the coming months.
I hope that the support and love that people are sending your way will help in the days to come.
With deepest sympathy,
Irene Colvin

Though I only knew Greg for a little while while working at C&B, he was one of the nicest gentlemen, and lawyers I ever had the privilege to meet. He spoke of his family with loving pride and always with a smile on his face. He will be sadly missed.

I am feeling your loss, Annette, as we are stunned by the news of Greg's sudden passing. But I can offer you the faith that upheld me during the time of Mark's brain tumor and ongoing treatments. I know that God knows the beginning from the end and is a faithful helper who wants to walk with us. Philippians 4:19 promises us that "My God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus" and Psalm 37:5 tells us to "Commit your way unto the Lord; trust also in Him. . . " We promise you our ongoing prayers. I am sorry that we are unable to be there for you at the time of the funeral. Hopefully we will see you at a Haun reunion. Love, Aunt Nancy & Uncle Mark

I had the pleasure of working with Greg at Cellino & Barnes. It's hard to put into words what a good man he was. He was a good friend to many...supportive and encouraging. He was a loving husband and father. He will be sadly missed. God bless you during this difficult time.

Annette, Sue, Jack , Jamie and the whole Hoelscher family,
I just came back from vacation and received an email from Sue about Greg. Needless to say I am in complete shock. I was just looking at my wedding album the other day and saw pictures of Annette and Greg. I remember coming to Buffalo for your wedding. It was beautiful ~ yes ~ even when you all put those crazy halloween masks on!
Hoelscher's was my first job while I was still in High School. You all became my family and stood by me through rough times and it saddened me when I left. We had a lot of great memories while I worked there. There was the work memories and the numerous party memories. The Hoelscher picnics, inventory with hangovers, christmas parties when Jack dressed up as Santa and me as his elf. You made everything we did so much fun. I can remember so much like it just happened yesterday. They are memories that will stay with me the rest of my life.
Annette, you were my rock when Joel passed away in November. I don't think I could have got through it if it wasn't for your kind words. Who would have thought you would need someone to be your rock so soon after? It's just not fair!!!
You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Dear Uncle Greg,
My heart is broken. You became my "Godfather" at the wee age of 10 and always seemed more like a big brother than an uncle. I will always cherish my childhood memories of summers spent in Buffalo, our trips to Friendly's, baseball games and "bars" ( hey it was the 70's & 80's) 4th of July at N.Forest and the countless times we embarrassed you in public...sorry! I thank you for the years of advice, friendship, and encouragment ...you were always the first to respond to my endless supply of Jaxon and Ruby photos. I will miss you more than words can say. Please give Grandpa and Grandma a big hug from me and I'll picture myself right in the middle. I love you Uncle Godfather!!! - your niece and Goddaughter Jenny

To the Hoeschler family –
We are heartsick over your loss. We first got to know Greg when he coached the ICS Bulldogs a few years ago. Mike was a fifth grader, and the youngest boy on the team, but I remember him sitting like a statue on the bench (quite a feat, even today), listening intently to everything “Coach” Greg said. The younger kids understood that they would only be allowed to play under certain circumstances, but when Mike finally got the chance to swing that bat over his shoulder, and get into his stance, he looked less like a little boy and more like a young man.
May the thoughts and prayers of your family sustain you, and may God continue to hold you in the palm of his hand.

A better man and lawyer I have never met. Always free with a smile and a kind word. Wise well beyond his years. The loss to the Buffalo legal community is immesureable. Dear Annette,
I can still remember Greg sharing with me how he had found the one, you Annette, his true love. So I struggle with trying to understand why God would allow this to happen, it seems all wrong. May you know that I cry with you over your loss and that I pray for God's strength and comfort for you and your boys, as you go through your days.

I just found our about Greg's passing.
It's a shock to me. Greg has supported the Dady Brother's music for many years when we performed in Buffalo. Many a fun night was spent with Greg and Annette and the Sweeneys together at the different Shannon Pubs through the years. Annette and their children are in the prayers of the Dady Brothers. And we will dedicate some of his favorite songs to him at our next show.

I was shocked and saddened to hear of Greg's passing. We worked together years ago at C&B and he was always such a pillar of strength and wisdom. My heart goes out to you Annette and your family and I have no doubt that you and the boys will be well taken care of. Greg will be so missed in the legal community. He had the courage to stand on his own and move forward in his own practice standing on his principles. May God Bless.

I don't even know where to begin.
I was welcomed into this family 12 years ago, I remember so vividly the hug and the smile you gave me. You made me feel so welcome.
Greg, you were the rock of the Hoelsher family. Everyone looked up to you. So strong and vibrant. It doesn't seem fair that you were taken away from us. We will always wonder why. There has to be some reason. I suppose GOD has a bigger plan for you. Selfishly we are all here wondering what that plan is. Why did he have to take someone as strong as you. Maybe in time we will know the reason, but in our hearts, it just doesn't seem fair.
We are all broken hearted, but we will always have fond memories of you. My favorite memory is you singing "An Irish Lullaby" at the Irish Center. Everytime I hear that song, I will think of you with both joy and sadness.
You have 2 beautiful boys that will carry on your strength. We will always see you in their eyes. I know you will watch over Annette and keep her stong. Give her the strength to get through.
You are so loved, and will never be forgotten.
With love and sadness
Over in Killarney,
Many years ago,
Me mither sang a song to me
In tones so sweet and low.
Just a simple little ditty,
In her good ould Irish way,
And I'd give the world if she could sing
That song to me this day.
Too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ral,
Too-ra-loo-ra-li,
Too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ral,
Hush, now don't you cry!
Too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ral,
Too-ra-loo-ra-li,
Too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ral,
That's an Irish lullaby.
Oft, in dreams I wander
To that cot again,
I feel her arms a huggin' me
As when she held me then.
And I hear her voice a humin'
To me as in days or yore,
When she used to rock me fast asleep
Outside the cabin door.
Too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ral,
Too-ra-loo-ra-li,
Too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ral,
Hush, now don't you cry!
Too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ral,
Too-ra-loo-ra-li,
Too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ral,
That's an Irish lullaby.

Absolutely heartbroken at the loss of my wonderful cousin, fellow childhood explorer, and classmate through the years. Greg was truly a shining light and a bringer of joy to all who knew him. I will always hold dear the times we had together exploring the fields behind the North Forest house, or the shores of Ellicott Creek near Glen Park, and of course our years together at St. Greg's and Neumann. I was always so proud to call Greg my cousin. A true prince of a man. The world is a better place because of him.
Annette, my heart goes out to you and the boys, and you are in my thoughts and prayers.

You know Greg, the last time we saw you was over this past summer, up at the beach in Canada. We smiled, laughed, played and enjoyed each others company. I'm so fortunate to have those memories of you. I'll never forget the hugs and kisses you greeted me and my family every single time we saw you. Your words were kind, sincere, intelligent and funny. Whether it was a discussion of politics or on the receiving end of a toast of Guinness. Yes, Greg, we loved your sense of humor and childlike goofiness, but damn, we'll miss you. You were always motivated, enthusiastic and concerned and you were stronger than all of us. God speed my friend.
