James Anzalone Obituary

Anzalone, James V.

-

Jim, or Jimmy as so many referred to him, passed unexpectedly on December 8th, 2023. Jim was born in Buffalo, N.Y. on November 21st, 1960. He also lived in Freeport, Illinois, and attended Freeport High School. Shortly after High School, Jim returned to Buffalo where he lived in the area and Rochester for the majority of his life. He is preceded in death by his father, James A. Anzalone, mother Joyce Nielsen, brother Gregory, paternal and maternal grandparents James and Grace Anzalone, and Fred and Dorothy Herman. He is survived by his sister, Dana (Jeff) Swoyer, daughters Raquel (Brandon) Frye, Jessica (Joe) Gordon, Nicole Anzalone, son James V. Anzalone, and three grandchildren. Jim will be remembered for his cheeky humor, direct perspective on life's situations, willingness to help anybody with anything, and an inherent aptitude to fix almost any mechanical thing. But most of all, Jim was famous for his delicious goulash, a family recipe, which he shared year after year at holiday gatherings and generously with the residents in his apartment building. Most of all, Jimmy valued the nostalgia of family togetherness from the 'old days'. He often spoke in detail of big family gatherings that remained current in his heart. Now, he is able to enjoy the company of them all again. A memorial service for Jim will be announced at a later date.
