Halbert - James R. "Jim"
James R. Halbert, 94 of Lancaster, NY passed away on March 25, 2023. He was a long-time resident of Lancaster where he raised his family. He was a high school music teacher and spent the majority of his career at Alden Central High school where he retired from in 1986. James was a very active member of the Masons, a US Air Force captain and pilot, a lover of golf, gardening, and gifted singer. James is survived by his wife of 70 years, Dorothy Ann, his 3 sons - James (Donna), Ray (Karen), and William (Eleonora), and 1 daughter Anne (James) Wieder; 9 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. A celebration of life service will be held on April 11, 2023 at the Williamsville United Methodist Church at 2:00PM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The American Diabetes Association.

Mr. Halbert was not only my chorus teach but also my neighbor. Nicest man ever. He would say " call me Jim" I couldn't do it. He was Mr. Halbert. My thoughts and Prayers to the family.

My sincere condolences to your family. As a 4 year member of the Alden Varsity Chorale '79-'82, I have nothing but the fondest memories of him as my teacher.
