Humbert - Humbert - James Dr. James Ronald Humbert, 77, passed away Monday, April 13, 2015. A private Memorial Service will be held in August of this year at Wilkerson Funeral Home. Dr. Humbert was born and raised in Geneva Switzerland, where he graduated from the Medical School of Geneva. He received his training in Pediatric Hematology, the field he spent his entire career in, at the University of Colorado. Following his work in Colorado, Dr. Humbert served as the Director of Sickle Cell Organization for Western New York while working for the State University of New York at Buffalo. He served as Director of Pediatric Hematology for Tulane University and then Hopital des Enfants in Geneva. In 2001, Dr. Humbert moved to Greenville to work in the Brody School of Medicine at ECU; and had remained in Greenville since his retirement in 2005. Dr. Humbert's work in pediatric hematology was well-known throughout the United States and Europe and he authored numerous publications and textbooks in his field of study. He was also an excellent downhill skier and enjoyed collecting European art.
Dr. Humbert is survived by his wife of 32 years, Linda Moore, PhD.; sons, Christophe Humbert and wife, Tamara Goetz, PhD., of Salt Lake City, UT,Philippe Humbert and wife, Patti, of Greer, NC, and Gabriel Humbert and fiance;, Gina Palullo, of Olean, NY; grandchildren, Luc, Jacob, Grace, Geneva, Phoenix, Griffin, and Quentin; and sister, Monique Humbert Moille of Geneva, Switzerland. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Children's Hospital in Buffalo, NY. Arrangements by Wilkerson Funeral Home & Crematory.
