James WIDGER Obituary
Of Derby, NY, passed Saturday, February 11, 2023 at home surrounded by family and friends, he was 58. Beloved husband of Carol Widger. Loving father of James Widger Jr. and Abigail Widger. Son of the late Rita and Boyd Widger. He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law Christopher A. Bovenzi and is survived by his sister Kari W. Bovenzi, M.D. Jim is also survived by numerous friends and his family who he cherished. We welcome friends and family to celebrate Jim on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 from 3-8 PM at the ADDISON FUNERAL HOME, INC. 262 N. MAIN ST. Angola, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10AM at Blessed John Paul II Church, Lakeview, NY. Please assemble at church.

Jim was a treasure in our family. His joyful smile, the twinkle in his eyes and his chuckle made my heart happy. He always made the effort to keep the holidays joyful, bringing the kids at Christmas and rarely missing a family event. As kids we got into our share of trouble, but he loved being around despite being surrounded by nothing but girls. He engaged in playing with Barbie dolls if that's what it took to hang out. My mom loved having a boy around since she only had girls. In fact, secretly I think she adopted him and my cousins Billy and Michael as a substitute. He had such great neighborhood friends as well, Sam and of course, the Dublino's. He loved music and Elton John. I loved his rendition of "Pinball Wizard" as he would perform with his pretend microphone. So many great memories and firsts! Thanks James! I know you were greeted by a herd of Gehen's, Hennigan's and all those who came there before you. I anticipate hearing all the thunder from the celebration up there!
