Janel Marie Mical McKINNY

McKINNY - Janel Marie Mical Passed away on Monday, January 28, 2013, at the age of 57. She died in her home in North Tonawanda after an almost three and a half year battle with breast cancer. Janel is survived by her husband of 34 years, Gerald "Jerry", her sons Peter (Brigitte) and Mark (Jodie), her granddaughter Sophie, her sister Melanie Mical (Harold), and her brother Kevin (Laura). She was born in North Tonawanda on November 11, 1955, to the late John Mical and Dolores Zaidel Mical. She graduated from North Tonawanda High School, Class of 1973. She earned a Master's Degree in Special Education from Buffalo State. She retired after 30 years from Orleans Niagara BOCES in the special education program. She was a member of St. Jude's Roman Catholic Church, North Tonawanda. She enjoyed spending time with her special close friends, attending craft shows, annual wine weekends, and their cross country skiing weekends. She loved the Adirondacks, especially Lake Placid, and their annual family summer trips to Silver Lake. She enjoyed some wonderful vacations to California, Florida, the Bahamas, Alaska, Vancouver, and the Canadian Rockies. More recently, she enjoyed her monthly trips to New Jersey or Connecticut, to visit her sons and her granddaughter, Sophie. Nana loved to spoil her first grandchild. They were able to have last wonderful family vacation in July on the Jersey Shore. Friends may call at the FRETTHOLD FUNERAL HOME, INC., 1241 Oliver Street at Ward Rd. in North Tonawanda on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Prayers will be said at the funeral home on Friday at 9:15 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Jude the Apostle, 800 Niagara Falls Blvd. on Friday at 10 A.M., entombment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Ascension Mausoleum.
