Jeanne C. PRENTICE

PRENTICE - Jeanne C. Age 92, died on October 14, 2010, in Montecito, CA, where she had lived for 32 years. Her late husband, Bryant H. Prentice Jr., was Chief Executive Officer of Bryant & Stratton College from 1957 to 1969 and Chairman from 1974 to 1984. He died in 1996. Their son, Bryant H. Prentice III, is Chairman of Bryant & Stratton, which today has campuses in New York State, Ohio, Virginia and Wisconsin. The former Jeanne Crowley was born in Chicago, and attended Rollins College in Winter Park, FL. In 1937, as a bride, she and her husband settled in Buffalo, NY, where his relatives founded and owned the educational institution. While in Buffalo, Mrs. Prentice was a member of the Junior League and the family attended Westminster Presbyterian Church. Her wedding gown is part of the permanent wardrobe collection at the Lancaster (NY) Opera House. The Prentices later were residents of Green Bay, WI, where he was the manager of the northern division for Kraft Foods. When Mr. Prentice was promoted to head both the northern and central divisions for Kraft, they lived in Chicago. In addition to her son, a resident of Jacksonville, FL, Mrs. Prentice is survived by a daughter, Heidi Widger of Ellicottville, NY, and Cordillera, CO; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Gloucester, VA.
