Katherine Mae Prentice

Katherine Mae Prentice (Wheelock), 78, died Saturday, March 14, 2026, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, Kansas. She was born on September 19, 1947, in Belleville, Kansas the daughter of George Wheelock & Audry Wheelock (Hillers).

Katherine was born in Belleville, Kansas, but she was raised in Sydney, Nebraska. She attended schools there and graduated from high school. After completing high school, she married Orland L. Prentice (Tiny) on February 28, 1969. She moved to Sterling, Colorado, in 1971, and then relocated to Garden City, Kansas, in 1992, where she has resided ever since. She had a passion for gardening, ceramics, and cherished her fishpond. Katherine was a deeply devoted mother.

She is survived by her children- David Prentice, Dean Prentice and Laurie Prentice; siblings- Jim Wheelock, Mary Weber, Beth Kind, Sandra Wheelock and John Wheelock; grandchildren- Karissa Nelson, Emerson Nelson, Ella Nelson, Christopher Prentice, Cameron Prentice, Patrick Prentice, Orlanda Williams, Otilio "Tito" Chavez and Jameson Williams. She is preceded in death by her husband- Orland Prentice; parents- George & Audrey Wheelock; siblings- George Wheelock, Tim Wheelock, Robert Wheelock, Sheila Connely, Cynthia Golden
