Age 77, of the City of Tonawanda. Husband of Margaret (nee Beller) Merkle, son of the late John and Dorothy (nee Gerwitz) Merkle, father of Melissa Merkle, Paul Merkle, Jason (Alanna) Stevens, Justin Stevens, Jimmy (Janelle) Stevens, grandfather of Bianca (Zach) Hausmann, Deborah (Jorge) Rodriguez, Keirsten, Taylor, Justin II , Madison, Connor, Payton, McKenna, Gabriella and Olivia Stevens, and survived by 4 great-grandchildren, brother of Kathie (Thomas) McKee, Gregg (Jane) Merkle and Carolyn (Herb) Mueller, and also survived by several nieces and nephews. Jerome was a 1965 graduate of Cardinal O'Hara High School. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in the 23rd Infantry (Americal) Div. in the 198th Infantry Brigade during the Vietnam War. Jerome was an avid hunter and fisherman and a big supporter of the Wounded Warrior Project. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, October 22, 2024 from 4-8 PM at JOHN O. ROTH FUNERAL HOME, INC., 25 William St. (between Morgan & Broad Sts.), City of Tonawanda, NY, where a Memorial Service will be conducted on Tuesday evening at 8 PM following the visitation. Everyone is welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Western New York Warriors at www.wnyheroes.org would be appreciated. Memories and condolences may be shared at www.ROTHFUNERAL.com
