Jill MEAD Obituary

MEAD - Jill Elizabeth
(nee Mooney)
Of Snyder, entered into rest February 8, 2021. Beloved wife of Kenneth J. Mead. Devoted mother of John C. and Rachel C. Mead. Jill was predeceased by the late Baby Samantha Mead. Loving daughter of John (Joan) Mooney and Andrea (nee McLeod) (Keith) Herald; dear sister of Rebecca (Matthew) Reardon and the late Christina McGuinness; cherished aunt of Alexa and William Reardon. Private family services were held at the LOMBARDO FUNERAL HOME (Snyder Chapel). Born and raised in the city of Buffalo, Jill proudly expressed "Buffalove." She received the Jesse Ketchum award while attending P.S. 63, and later graduated from City Honors High School, where she captained both the swim and softball teams. In 1989, Jill earned a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University at Buffalo. Following a successful career at DuPont, she spent the past twenty years as a project manager at the Lean Methods Group, an international consulting firm based in Denver, CO. Jill was a true lover of the outdoors. She especially loved taking long walks with her beloved dog Dexter, organizing bike rides, hikes, and camping trips with her friends and family, and spending weekends at her cherished cabin. A passionate animal lover, she adored her many pets and all those in her neighborhood. In addition to these things, Jill will be remembered for her unique ability to bring people together, her infectious laugh, kindness to all, and a deep and unwavering love of her family. Donations in Jill's memory may be made to Pixie Mamas Canine Rescue Group, the Buffalo Community Fridge, or Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center.

I have so many fond memories of Jill from high school. Everybody liked her ... because she was so easy to like! She never got rattled during tough softball games -- never got frustrated at her teammates or bad umpire calls, just encouraged all of us to keep going, stay focused, do our best. I also have a hilarious memory of her totally taking charge during a game of Quarters ... she had strong opinions about how the game should be played and she made sure we all knew it! It doesn't surprise me a bit to see that she has had a full and happy life ... I hope her memory is a comfort and inspiration to everyone who knew and loved her.

Jill brought joy to the lives of so many of her peers, teachers and coaches at City Honors. No one ever worked harder or gave so much of self when it came to any endeavor. As her teacher and Class Advisor I will always treasure the goodness and kindness of a special student. My sincere condolences to Jill's family and loved ones. Our world has lost one of the truly good ones.

Our hearts are shattered with the loss of our dear Jilly. A space in our souls with forever be vacant without her in our lives. Each of us is a better person for having had even a short time with her and our lasting memories will bring us peace, love, laughter, and direction until we meet again in this universe or the next.
