97, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2025. Born on February 15, 1928, in Buffalo to Nelson H. and Margaret W. Baker, and grew up alongside her beloved brother, Nelson H., Jr. She attended Catholic school, studied business, and worked as a secretary, but her greatest calling was as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, always guided by her deep faith and love for family. She was blessed with two cherished marriages: to Robert Carr Harrington (d. 1980), with whom she shared two children, Robert Jr. and Deborah (Battel); and to Andrew J. McComas (d. 2013), whose children:-Andrew, Jr., Rev. Gregory, and Claire (Mueller)-she embraced with love. Joan took joy in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, celebrating every milestone with warmth and affection. She will be remembered for her kindness, elegance, and her gift for bringing people together-whether at family dinners, on the golf course, or dancing with friends, including her lifelong best friend, Jean Davis. A Memorial Gathering will be held Saturday, October 25th from 2-4pm at Amigone Funeral Home, 2600 Sheridan Drive, Tonawanda, NY 14150. Flowers are appreciated.
