John Brixius Obituary

Age 93, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away peacefully at Niagara Hospice House. Born in Minersville, PA, he was the son of the late John A. and Henrietta (Cody) Brixius. John was raised in Pennsylvania and proudly served in the United States Air Force. Following his honorable discharge in 1953, he moved to Niagara Falls where he married his beloved wife, Rosalie (Bruno) Brixius on June 20, 1959. She later predeceased him in 1982. John retired from DuPont as a Substation Operator after over 25 years. Prior to DuPont, he worked on the Niagara Power Project, as well as part time for Taibi Concrete. John was an excellent woodworker and loved to tinker with just about anything. He also enjoyed traveling to Florida and valued the time spent with his family. John is survived by four children: Elaine Brixius, Joyce McDonnell, John Brixius and James Brixius; seven grandchildren: Crystal (Brian) Zamito, Michael (Lisa) Pavlak, Taryn (William) Sovran, Shannon McDonnell, Patrick McDonnell, Sofia Brixius and Jack Brixius; his great-grandchildren: Annabella, Max, Bryce, Cecelia, Camille and Henry, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was sadly predeceased by his son, Bruce Brixius; and his four siblings: Margaret (late Fred) Zinn, Elizabeth (late Samuel) Bonnette, Sarah (late Floyd) Everts and Marie Dembitsky. Visitation will be Thursday, September 5 from 4 to 8 p.m. at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY, where funeral services will begin Friday at 10 a.m., followed by John's Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in St. Leo's Church, 2748 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY. Interment with Military honors in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Memorial offerings may be made to Niagara Hospice. Visit mjcoluccifuneralchapel.com for online condolences.
