John HOCHADEL Obituary

Hochadel - John W.
Hochadel - John W. of Holland, NY, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2023 at Sloan Comfort Care Home. Beloved husband of thirty-eight years to Fran (nee Minkiewicz), father of four children and three step-children; loving grandfather to his grandchildren. Also survived by cherished family and friends. John was employed by the Holland Highway Department. As an elected official, he served as Highway Superintendent for the Town of Holland from 1982-1986. A dedicated member of the Holland Fire Department, John responded to calls protecting people and property within town limits and surrounding communities. He honorably served in the Army National Guard between 1955 to 1961 at which time his service was involuntarily extended to 1963 pursuant to Executive Order by President John F. Kennedy. During his military commitment, John served as a sharpshooter, track vehicle mechanic and cook. John will always be remembered as an accomplished woodworker who designed and built cabinetry, furniture and decorative pieces for home/lawn. His love for gardening, both floral and vegetable, was evident every season. No prior visitation. A funeral liturgy will be held on June 2, 2023 at 1pm at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, 46 North Main Street, Holland, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorials/donations may be made in John's name to the Holland Fire Department, Hospice of Buffalo and Sloan Comfort Care Home.
