I know it's an over used term, but he was a true gentleman. Never said an unkind thing about anyone. Clearly lived his religion on a daily basis. I am truly sorry for your loss.

My first encounter with John was at ATF Basic Training in 1963. From then
until now, we have maintained contact and had a great relationship. He
has always been friendly, happy, positive, caring and in many other ways,
a great person. Further, he was surrounded by a very loving family. He
will be missed. Jay Fowler
