Passed away October 30, 2022; Beloved husband of Kathleen (McGuire); Loving father of Isabella (Jackson Fleming, fiance) and John Patrick Nurt. Son of the late Jerome and Pauline (Banier) Nurt; Brother of Richard (Karen) Nurt, Renata (late Michael) Kraft and Larissa (Kenneth) Doyle, also survived by many nieces and nephews. Friends may call Friday from 2-4 and 7-9PM at the JAMES W. CANNAN FUNERAL HOME INC., 3155 Orchard Park Rd. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday at 10:00AM at Nativity of Our Lord Church 26 Thorn Ave. Orchard Park, NY. Please assemble at church. Mr. Nurt was an integral part of Seasonal Nursery, where he worked as a landscape designer for over 30 years, Past President of Christ the King Knights of Columbus, member of the Southtowns Walleye Association and author of The Forest Soldier. John and I were at SUNY Plattsburgh together, became brothers in Theta Kappa Beta and were housemates for a couple of years. I´m sorry we lost touch in the last 30 years but I´m grateful for the friendship we had and gratified that he had such a full life. I pray that God eases your grief and that He comforts you with the fond memories of your husband, father and friend.

I met John through other friends and when I moved to the area after college we got together for many, many good times. John's up-beat attitude, smile and zest for life comes through his whole family. Though my heart is broken with the news, just hearing his name brings back a flood of great memories and nothing but smiles. My heartfelt sympathy to his family at this trying time and all that knew John. Truly our loss is heaven's gain.

Goodbye John. I´ll never forget the time we went to the Joshua Tree concert at Meadowlands in NJ. You were a lot of fun at Beta, and always an inspiration to me.

Heartbroken at John's passing. He was an artistic, talented, funny guy. Loved his approach to landscaping: natural and beautiful. That's how we connected, and stayed that way for many years. Thought of him many times this fall as the trees he planted brought forth those amazing colors. I'd like to think it was for him. Condolences to all for this terrible loss.

John was a friend and brother in Beta. He was a leader, a positive light and always on the better side of reason. Although I knew him for a short period of time he had an impact in my life and I´m a better person because of him. Rest In Peace, your brother in Beta forever.

We met John in 1997 when we had moved to our new home and decided to put in an inground pool. He has been one of our most treasured finds as he possessed so much knowledge about landscaping and design. We built a friendship with him and shared many different parts of our lives with one another. John was a very dedicated loving father to his children, and he spoke of them with much love. We are saddened to hear of his passing and will miss his friendly kind gracious demeanor as well as his knowledge and personal faith. We admired his zest for life and will miss the camaraderie we shared with him. Im sure Heaven is thrilled he is now there. Prayers for the family left behind. Our sincere heartfelt sympathies. My husband and I are very sorry for your loss. John was our landscape designer for over 20 years. We had a lovely friendship with him over the years and my husband shared a bond with John having been diagnosed almost one year previous. John was kind and funny, we loved having him over and walking around our yard with him talking about projects. Always creative and helpful! We will miss him a great deal. RIP John
