Jennifer,
I'm terribly sorry for the loss of John. While it's been years since we've share time together, I still maintain fond memories of our dinners out and John's stories of his past. I am truly saddened by the loss of a wonderful and interesting man who clearly loved you. I wish you well and please remember to focus on the good times as that is what John would want you to do and how he would want to be remembered.

When I learned John had passed away, I pulled out the letters he wrote me from Officers Candidate School. John, was very intent to succeed to become an Officer in the USMC. That time in his life was the most vulnerable. However, it was a time when his true personality presented. His spirit to be successful, his honest work ethic and how much he cared about others became obvious.
My sincere condolences to his family.
