TOURJIE - Kevin Leo Of Battle Creek, MI, age 66, died Saturday morning, June 22, 2019, at Bronson Methodist Hospital, Kalamazoo, MI. Kevin, the son of George and Geraldine (nee Hens) Tourjie, Jr., was born in Kenmore, NY, on February 9, 1953. He served his country honorably and nobly, after graduating high school, in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War aboard the U.S.S. Kitty Hawk. He was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal with one Bronze Star. Kevin retired in 2006 from the Hart-Doyle-Inouye Federal Center of Battle Creek as a Supervisor of Property Disposal. Kevin was united in marriage to the former Julie C. Jackson, in Burien, WA, on November 22, 1980, and she survives along with his son, Christopher H. "Chris" Tourjie, of Seattle, WA. Kevin was preceded in death by his son, Private David L. Tourjie, USMC, on February 26, 2007. The Graveside Service to celebrate Kevin's life will be held on Thursday, June 27th at 1 PM in Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, MI, with a United States Navy Honor Guard and the Fort Custer Honor Guard bestowing full military honors. Kevin will be laid to rest at Fort Custer, with his son Dave. The Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Battle Creek is assisting Kevin's family.
