Dear Berta, Paul Jr., Michael, and Steven:
I have very fond memories of your Mom. She was a force to be reckoned with and was surely one of the pillars of our little community as children on that block. I'll never forget the day that Steve ran into the traffic and was hit by the car, sending him tumbling down the street like an Olympic gymnast shot out of a cannon. Your Mom ran out of the house and scooped him up, placed him in the car, and sped off to the hospital. Of course, that might not have been the ideal thing to do for someone who had just been hit by a car, but her motherly instincts to do all she could possibly do to help her child got the better of her (by today's standards).
I remember the beautiful home your folks made for you. So warm and welcoming. And the strong bond of friendship between our mothers. I regret not being with you today to celebrate her life and to express my condolences in person. I would welcome the opportunity to reconnect, so I've made myself available via email.
As I reflect on the presence of your Mom in my life, I feel a warmth in my heart that I still carry with me to this day. She rests in peace, but lives on in all the lives she touched so deeply.
May your lives go well...Ray
