Mark DALY Obituary

DALY - Mark Richard, (GMD)
Age 61, unexpectedly passed away peacefully in his sleep December 19, 2020, at his home in Phoenix, Arizona. Mark was born December 2, 1959, to Richard and Karen (Mescall) Daly in Lackawanna, New York; he a was loving companion of over 20 years to Rose Bowie, brother to five siblings, and uncle to ten nieces and nephews. Mark was truly one of a kind. He was gifted, and had a passion for knowledge. After high school, he continued his education at several institutions, earning enough credits for a PhD, but in true Mark fashion none matriculated to a degree. He learned for the sake of learning. Mark was artistic, and was a talented craftsman; he could fix anything. His beloved niece, Kathryn, dubbed him the "human Google" and those fortunate enough to know Mark would agree. Mark reveled in telling stories, always embellishing enough to keep them interesting and thought-provoking. He cherished his nephews and nieces, likely boasting their accolades too often. For that, we apologize. Mark taught them so much - like how to pick out the best slot machine in Vegas (to an underage teen - yikes), and how to properly light French fries with matches (at age 5 - double yikes). Most importantly, he made each feel special and taught them to live a kind, compassionate and content life in whatever manner suits them best. His Godson, Matt, noted Mark was fueled by caffeine-free Diet Pepsi; cold weather, however, did not stoke him. He headed west for warmth in his early twenties, landing in Phoenix, where he worked, met Rose and her children (Chris and Elizabeth), and owned and loved several dogs (Bean, Bugsy, Floyd, Ruger, and Klondike).Mark was a lifelong Buffalo sports fan; we like to think he saw the Bills win the 2020 AFC East Championship. He took fashion cues from no one, remaining firmly entrenched in styles of the 70's, mullet and all. Mark enjoyed fantasy football (especially when he won the league), playing (actually, winning) any board game, and watching B-rate movies. He is survived by his father and mother, Richard and Karen (Mescall) Daly of Lackawanna, NY; companion, Rose Bowie of AZ; siblings and their spouses, Elaine Daly Crowley (Donald) of TX, Paul Daly (Julie) of WA; James Daly (Catherine) of IL; Mary Daly Bongiorno (Anthony) of MA; Steven Daly (Donna) of NY; nieces and nephews, Jennifer Daly, Anthony Bongiorno, Sean Daly, Colin Daly, Mia Bongiorno, Kathryn Crowley, Kara Daly, Matthew Daly, Lydia Bongiorno and Nicholas Daly. Mark will be honored in a Memorial Service and Celebration of Life reception at date to be determined.

I have a lot of fond memories, many fun and exciting experiences with Mark and the Daly family growing up in West Seneca. Hanging out at the Daly house, boating, water skiing and playing hockey on the same line with Mark at Timon.
