Mehmet was the beloved husband of Dr. Susan (nee Eigenbrod) Erk D.O.; cherished father of Tarik (Laura) Erk, Kemal Erk, Sibel (David) Thornbury, Timur Erk and Troy Erk; loving brother of Fusun and the late Ahmet Erk. He was the best OBGYN doctor in western New York, who care about what is best for his patients. He was professional and knowledge in his field and respectful to those he treated. Our deepest condolences to Susan and the entire Erk family. Such a good man and doctor and such a loss.
We have known Mehmet for some 40 years. He was always kind, thoughtful, caring beyond measure, and, yes, intense and intensely smart. What always surprised me is that he was also very funny. And he had that lovely wily smile!
In a story that is probably common, he helped deliver our 3 children and then he took care of my daughters so well, so quietly caring, and proficient.
7 grandkids later, we thank him again.
We think of him now with the fondest of memories and hope you own good memories, stories and laughs will help to assuage the grief your family will feel as the result of his too early departure.

Dr. Susan and familymy heart is truly broken. Dr. Mehmet was one of the people in this world that I admired most and I’m not sure I ever got to tell him that. He was always SO confident and decisive as a physician, yet so incredibly calm, humble, kind and reassuring. There are few people in this world who impacted me the way that he did. He delivered two of my three children and I’ll never forget the compassion and the JOY he showed when my babies were born - it was evident how much he cared and how much he loved bringing love and life into the world. Dr. Mehmet Erk was my doctor for 33 years. I had difficulty with my pregnancies before he was my doctor. I was in search of a new doctor and one of my colleagues at work suggested I go see him. On my way home from work, the car in front of me had a license plate with "ERK" on it. I knew this was a sign. I made an appointment shortly after, and I'm so glad I did. He delivered all 4 of my children. He was always so kind. At each appointment, he would ask about my family and he would tell me all about his family. We both have children about the same age. I am going to miss him.

Susan and Mehmet have been my doctors for 40 yrs. I was having troubles and they both performed my surgery on a Saturday morning, which I will never forget. On a routine visit, Susan discovered a an abnormal growth. Dr Mehmet did the surgery. I am forever Grateful for both of these wonderful people and I will miss Dr. Mehmet as he touch many lives.
