Michael HOPKINS Obituary
Of Kenmore, NY, August 4, 2021. Son of the late Mickey F. and Edna Adams Hopkins; dear brother of Kathleen F. Hopkins and Suzanne (Basilee) Estell; beloved uncle of Jason (Melissa) Estell and Michelle-Marie (Jay) Gant; also survived by grand-nieces, nephews, and friends. All are invited to a Memorial Service at D. LAWRENCE GINNANE FUNERAL HOME, 3215 Delaware Ave., Kenmore, Wednesday (Aug. 11th) at 10 AM. Michael was an avid jazz collector and enthusiast. He was retired from the Erie County Public Library and continued his passion for writing poetry which fostered his feelings for human redemption. Memorial contributions to the American Diabetes Association, 160 Allenscreek Rd., Rochester, NY 14618, are preferred. Condolences may be sent to www.ginnanefuneralhome.com

He and I normally chat around fall to the new year. I've not been on fb much, busy life. But, I have been missing his poetry, his jazz posts and him.... I'm only just now reading of his passing. He is/was such a light. A bright light in this grey world. His poems inspire, enlighten, proactively encourage and embolden those, like me, that read his wisdom. He is/was a warrior, a light bringer, a good friend and I will never forget his kindness and good natured patience. The world is missing you, and I know, I do. ~ I know it's been months since his passing, but, I still send good vibes, prayers and respect to the family of this beautiful spirited and blessed man. Praise be. Hug. God bless.

I had the honor of living with Michael "Ajamu" Hopkins back in 1989-90. He was amazing, inspiring, fun and a life-saver! A truly beautiful human being! I´m deeply sorry for your loss

So sorry for your loss. Mike was a wonderfully unique individual, and I consider myself privileged to have known him, through his good friend Dwayne Muth. May Mike rest peacefully in The LORD'S loving grace, and may GOD bless and comfort those who knew, loved, and miss him, In JESUS' name.
