LAVIS - Michael J. Age 46, of Vista, CA, went home to Jesus on March 1, 2015. Born in Buffalo, NY, Mike was the beloved son of Dan and Mary (Siler) Lavis of Buffalo and the dear brother of Laura Lavis of Buffalo and Erin Waters of Trout Lake, WA. Mike attended the former Holy Family Elementary School, was the valedictorian of his class at St. Francis High School and was graduated from the Pennsylvania State University with a B.S. in Meteorology in 1990 and served in the National Weather Service (NOAA) for 18 years until he became ill. He was also a forecaster for the National Forest Fire Fighting Teams. Mike enjoyed meeting people and traveled extensively for the Weather Service and for recreation visiting friends, foreign countries and especially the National Parks. Memorial services will be private.
