Patricia BURNS Obituary

BURNS - Patricia (nee Staley) Of Lutz, FL, formerly of Buffalo, NY, passed away on September 21, 2016, beloved wife of Stephen Scherman and the late Neil Burns; loving mother of Karen (James) Burns Schweitzer, Robert Burns, the late Maureen and Marguerite Burns; cherished grandmother of Jonathan; daughter of the late Edwin and Zofia (nee Lewandowski) Staley; dear sister of Joanne (late James) McMullan, James Staley and the late Gertrude (Robert) Schendel; sister-in-law of Rita (Joe) Rothwell; also survived by a loving family of nieces, nephews and many dear and devoted friends. The family will be present Monday from 4-8 PM at the (Lancaster-Depew Chapel) AMIGONE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 6050 Transit Rd where prayers will be said on Tuesday at 9 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Our Lady of Peace RC Church, 10950 Main St., Clarence at 10 AM. Interment to immediately follow in Clarence Fillmore Cemetery. Dr. Burns, PhD '88 and MS '79 was internationally recognized as a leader in the nursing profession. She was renowned for excellence in clinical practice, educating students and developing innovative educational programs. Dr. Burns served as Dean of the College of Nursing at the University of South Florida from 1997-2010 and prior to that she was Chair of the Nurse Practitioner Program for the UB School of Nursing.
