Jim, Carrie and Lisa,
Putting into words how much I miss Pat has been difficult for me- Pat would have known this. There are so many moments that are connected with her, so each day there are new thoughts. This is how someone remains with us forever, by being a part of each day and in the things we do. Hard as that is, I am grateful for the wonderful memories, and that I was part of her life. With love and sadness, Michele

Jim, Carrie, and Lisa,
Almost everyday I think of Pat in some way. Whether it be a picture, a restaurant we ate at or something that just reminds me of a memory we had. Pat was a wonderful person with a great personality. In the 24 years I knew Pat, we had some wonderful times. I miss her very much as I know you do as well. A comforting thought is that we know someone as wonderful as Pat is sharing in the peaceful glory of heaven.

Jim, Carrie and Lisa,
It has taken awhile to write this to you. I wish I was a wise person and knew the perfect words to say. Pat was the first person to welcome me to CHOB some 28 years ago. We became fast ,close friends almost immediately. I always marveled at how good she was playing softball and gosh- could she slide into 2nd base! Jim- she was so happy to get married to you- and was determined to make your first apartment a home to you both. I'll never forget her French Onion Soup and her Chicken and Cheese casserole! Then to the Harlem Rd. House . I remember one dinner at the Harlem Road house particularly, when your Mom told me that my boyfriend was the man I would marry. What fun and love we shared! Then came the Babies!! If anyone gave meaning to the phrase DEVOTED MOM -it was Pat! She was so proud of you both , and always let us know what you were doing /or playing. Even if we didn't talk or see each other often- she was always in my heart and when we got together- it was as if we never left off! Pat always talked so lovingly about you Jim , Carrie and Lisa that I knew she was truly happy and blessed in her life. This is so hard to write. But just yesterday I realized that she must be peaceful, and maybe putting together a good roster with my Dad for one heck of a softball game in heaven! She will be in my thoughts and I will love her always! I was very overwhelmed by the love, kindness and devotion that Pat received, and it was given so freely and by so many! You must be so amazed. But she was like that -she had Everyday Grace and blessed all that she knew with it.
Always,
Polly(Plewniak )Ortiz

To the Wilhelm - Diggins Families

I didn't know that Patty had passed until Saturday. I'm sorry to have missed the opportunity to say goodbye and to express to you, in person, my deepest sympathy for your enormous loss. I knew Patty from Trocaire, and occassionally saw her at Irish functions or at the Tara Shoppe. It was always a pleasure to talk with her and to be in her company. I know that Patty achieved many important goals in her life, both professionally and personally, but in the end, perhaps it is simply the fact that the joy and enthusiasm she brought to life and shared with any of those she met; her concern and generosity and kindness that serve as the anchor of our memories of her and her legacy to those she loved and who loved her. We are all of us lessened by her loss, most of all those who now will never get the opportunity to know her.I pray that you are strengthened by the memory of her courage and strength and humor; that you are comforted by her love, and know that she is never farther from you than your own heart. prayer and memory.

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

To Pat--I will never forget the great time we had at Trocaire durng x-ray school. You helped this "outsider" from Riverside navigate the sometimes tricky South Buffalo "thing" and helped me to fit in. I will always be grateful. Later, when we were colleagues at Children's I had the great pleasure of working with you. Although our paths rarely crossed in recent years, I will miss you greatly. Rest in Peace, Diggens, and say hi to Sister George for me!
