To the entire Schaefer family, it has been so long since I have seen most of you, but I would like to let you know you are all in my thoughts and prayers, as I loved Uncle Paul, he was my grandfathers best friend, and such an integral part of my childhood! He always made me smile, as his lit up the room! i miss him dearly, however, I know that angels are taking care of him and Aunt Joyce, and they are watching over all of us. Have a blessed holiday. Love, Kristen Harlach (daughter of Danny Harlach)

I personally know Paul as a friend and fellow NYSEG employee. Paul was a good family man and dedicated Christain. I believe he has a special place in Heaven. I went to many Bison games with him. We especially enjoyed the pregame picnics. I will dearly miss him and the stories he told. Paul loved his family.

Praying for all the family during this time of loss. I pray God's grace will sustain you as you celebrate the life of someone so dear but also as you let him go. I am blessed to be friends with his granddaughter Molly. She has shared so many stories of her beloved grandfather, Papa Schaef. It is endearing to know the last words she knows he said was, GO TIGERS, with a smile on his face. I know he is so proud of his Molly and can now watch over her from above.

Although we don't know Paul or any other family members, we are friends with Molly. We think the world of her and know that she has a wonderful, loving close family. Our hearts go out to the family and know you are in our prayers. From Molly we learned what a wonderful man Paul, her grandfather, was. We are blessed to know her and want you to know we are thinking of you this day. Blessings to all of you.

My wife and I ran an electrical contracting business in the Arcade area. Paul was one of our suppliers and consultants. He stopped by our home many times when in the area. His stories, jokes and friendship was always something we looked forward to. Linda and I will always remember him with fondness and love.
You're going to be missed friend.
December 11, 2012
My thoughts and prayers are with you all. I've known Paul for over 30 years when he first came to NYSEG Lockport. We always had good times telling jokes to each other and others. He could get away with telling some jokes that I would get in trouble telling. I'm sorry he had to suffer lately, but he kept his humor. He will be missed by many. I'm sorry I couldn't meet you, but health issues prevented it. Again you and Paul are in our prayers. John Voss

Ginny and all of the Schaefer Clan, we are so sorry to hear of your Father/Grandfather's passing, yet rejoice with you as descendants of a man who lived a good life and was much beloved. Ginny, I'm pleased the girls and I could meet your Dad during the recent Scholar's Breakfast at SUNY Fredonia. The pride he had in you, and I'm sure in all your siblings, was very much in evidence. Our condolences to all.

Dear Schaefer Family,
We are so sorry to hear of Paul's passing. My husband worked with your father through NYSEG. To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

I will remember Paul Schaefer as one of the most friendly, gentle, loving, devout, respectful and caring gentleman I have ever met. He always had a kind word and a funny story to tell I know his family, friends and neighbors loved him profoundly. What a gift he was to this earth. God bless the Schaefer family and may Mr. Schaefer rest in peace!

Dear Mary Lynn, Our deepest sympathies to you and all your family. We know how difficult it is to loose a loved one, but he'll always be close in your heart. Your dad was one of the bright spots here on earth and is sure to be shining up the heavens right now. He has followed the Christmas star to the child of Bethlahem and is now able to actually say Happy Birthday directly to Christ.

I knew Paul for only a few years as members of Amvets Post 49. His commitment to helping veterans in need especially Homeless Veterans ( Fr. Peter Young's Altamount House) showed the compassion he had for helping people. God rest the soul of Paul. In my thoughts with prayers I will remember Paul...
