Philip RUSSO Obituary

RUSSO - Philip E.
Entered into rest on December 30, 2022, at age 93; beloved son of Joseph and Corrine Russo. Beloved hus-band of 63 years to Barbara A. (nee Sim-mons) Russo; devoted and loving father of Joseph (Lynn), Philip (Sandy); dearest brother of the late Robert (surviving Janet) Russo, dearest Uncle to Michael (Laura) Russo, Great Uncle to Olivia and Nicholas Russo, dearest Uncle to Maureen and family, dearest Uncle to Mark and family. Dearest brother-in-law to Linda Simmons, Joseph Simmons and the late John Simmons and Robert Simmons. Also survived by many nieces and nephews; he will be sadly missed by many cherished family and friends. He earned his Master's Degree in Education after serving in the Air Force during the Korean War. He was stationed in Alaska and was always eager to share the many experiences and stories related to his military service. He enthusiastically enjoyed his career as a schoolteacher in the Maryvale School district. He retired in 1990 after teaching for thirty-one years. Even many years after retirement, he would continually run into former students who would recognize him and then express their appreciation for his guidance and the positive influence he had on their lives. No prior visitation. Private Service. Arrangements by LOMBARDO FUNERAL HOME (Southtowns Chapel). In lieu of services, he would be honored by donations to the charity of your choosing. The family would also like to thank Hospice for all their help, kindness and support.

Mr. Russo taught me woodshop in the late 70s. So patient, knowledgable and humorous. I learned woodworking skills from him I'll never forget. My deepest condolences.

Phil taught industrial arts and driver education to countless appreciative students who loved his dedication, knowledge, personality and sense of humor. I worked many summers with him teaching driver ed and saw him become a wonderful friend to so many - he will always be alive in our hearts.
