Age 76 of Buffalo, NY, died Monday at the Buffalo VA Medical Center in Buffalo, NY, from complications from surgery. Raul was born in Manhattan, NY, the son of the late Jose and Rosa (Molina) Rodriguez. Raul was a disabled Army Veteran, having served in both the 82nd airborne and the 101st airborne divisions during the Vietnam Conflict. He was awarded the Purple Heart for injuries he sustained in battle. Along with the Purple Heart, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Parachutist Badge, and the Marksman Badge (M-14). Raul was a weapons instructor while in the service and in later years was an Assistant Associate Director for the Erie County Police Academy. Raul was a member of the 82nd Airborne Division Association, a life member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart and The Disabled American Veterans, and an Honorary Member of The New York State Sheriff's Institute. In all of these organizations he took a very active part in for many years. He is survived by his daughter, Melina (John) Rolison of Mt. Morris; brother, Michael (Sandy) Rodriguez; sisters: Iris Federico, Marianne Ator; wife, Barbara (Maggs) Rodriguez; and many relatives and friend's. He was beloved by many. Friends may call on Thursday, November 21, 2024, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the JOHN W. MARTIN FUNERAL HOME, 37 Chapel Street, (Route 408), Mount Morris. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at 1 p.m., at St. Patrick's Church, 46 Stanley Street, in Mt. Morris. Interment with full Military Honors will be in Leicester Cemetery, Leicester, NY. Memorials may be made to Disabled American Veterans. Sign the online registry at www.johnwmartinfuneralhome.com
