Robert BENCHLEY Obituary

BENCHLEY - Robert Carl
Age 93, of Forestville, passed away Wednesday, November 24th, 2021 at Brooks Memorial Hospital. He was born in Detroit, MI on August 23, 1928, the son of the late Kenneth H. and Mildred S. (Durkee) Benchley. Robert was an unbelievably hard worker who founded Benchley Construction in 1957 and is still in business today, almost 65 years later. He was a member of the Forestville United Methodist Church, Forestville, the Masonic Lodge and the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 17. Father of John Merrill and Cornelius (Pam) Benchley, Beth Benchley, and brother of Jean Boyd, Dorothy Cameron, Deloris Collins, Elmer (Virginia) Benchley, Revy (Margo) Benchley, Paul (Joyce) Benchley, Thomas Benchley, and Kenneth (Cherrie) Benchley. He has seven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, several nieces & nephews and three sisters-in-law. He was predeceased by his wife Nellie (Kniese) Benchley, whom he married on July 18, 1946 in Forestville and who died almost 60 years later on July 9, 2006, a sister, six brothers, seven sisters-in-law; and nine brothers-in-law. Saddened by the passing of uncle Bob, a good friend of Greg´s father Julius and a model for us nieces and nephews. He is surely missed. Condolences to the family he loved so dearly.
