DEVINE - Robert Martin "Bob"
Arlington, Virginia: Robert Martin (Bob) Devine passed away on Monday, November 29, 2021. Born and raised in Buffalo, NY, Bob moved to Northern Virginia in 1984, but never left his North Buffalo roots behind. He was married to Sandra (Sandy) Devine in September, 1985 and made his home in Arlington. Bob was an insurance executive, spending the majority of his career with CareFirst in Washington D.C., but he did not define himself by his work. He was happiest when surrounded by family, friends, and his passions for golf, fishing, genealogy, and home renovation. He was known as a loyal and caring friend, retaining the relationships he built with childhood friends, neighbors, golfing buddies, and work colleagues, throughout his life. After retiring from CareFirst, Bob and Sandy relocated to Europe for three years with her work, to Frankfurt, Germany, and later Zurich, Switzerland. Upon return to the U.S., they located to their vacation home in Kiawah Island, South Carolina, where Bob was typically found on the golf course or on long walks on the beach. Predeceased by his parents, Robert and Grace Devine and by his beloved sister Joan Siembieda, he is survived by his wife Sandy, daughters Maddy and Becca and son Rory; his sisters Nancy and Susan (Shaw); and his nieces Kristin Siembieda, Seton Tucker, Lisa Lai, and Jennifer Kessler; nephews Matt and David Stabel; and a growing set of grandnieces and nephews. Beloved dad, friend, foursome mate, loyal Bills and Sabres fan, cat lover, converted dog lover, and DIY extraordinaire. Services held on Friday, December 3 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Georgetown, Washington, DC. Visitation Thursday, December 2 at Murphy's Funeral Home in Arlington, VA. Memorial donations may be made to the Buffalo History Museum.
