"Hippy Bob"

Beloved husband of Nancy (nee Grunthaner) Wiemers. Loving son of the late Philip and Dorothy (nee Koepping) Wiemers. Loving brother of the late Phillip and Thomas Wiemers. Loving brother-in-law of Robert (Deborah) Grunthaner, Linda (Brent) Adams and Marianne Grunthaner. Also survived by nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. A visitation will be held on Tuesday September 2, 2025 from 6-8 pm at The Dietrich Funeral Home Inc. 2480 Kensington Ave. Amherst, NY 14226. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Flowers gratefully declined. Memorials may be made to Roswell Park. At the time I was knon as John Kuck. We were both at a point building superintendents so knew each other. School day mornings we met on the way to DWC for high-school education. RIP Bob. We'll talk some time.

Bob was a special person, beloved by all who knew him. He grew up in the Bronx and after enlisting in the Navy at the tender age of 17 saw active duty during the Vietnam War on the aircraft carrier USS Constellation, directing pilots as a radar operator. He landed in Buffalo after his service, living a full life with his wife in North Buffalo. His career was in the Facilities Department at Erie Community College. He was one of the many veterans diagnosed with leukemia after being exposed to Agent Orange during his time in Vietnam. He fought a long and courageous battle against the cancer, receiving amazing care from Roswell Park Cancer Institute for over eight years.
