Roger Schneggenburger Memoriam

Roger Schneggenburger

Roger Gregory Schneggenburger, 84, of Ann Arbor, MI, passed away peacefully in his sleep in the early morning hours of September 26, 2023. Roger was born on February 17, 1939 to Marion and Louis Schneggenburger in Buffalo, NY. Roger valued education and was a lifelong reader and learner. After graduating from Bennett High School in Buffalo, he earned a Bachelor degree from Canisius College in 1959, a Doctorate in Chemistry from the University of Notre Dame in 1967 and a Master Degree in Quality Control from Eastern Michigan University. Roger's long career began at Dow Chemical Company in Midland, MI followed by 17 years working with microtargets for KMS Fusion in Ann Arbor, MI. Other work included emissions testing at the Chrysler Proving Grounds, gathering data for the 2000 Census, and quality control at SoloHill Engineering Inc. His marriage to Hattula Moholy-Nagy in 1987 was a source of great joy to them both.

Roger loved to travel, taking many road trips around the US, as well as frequent trips to Europe with Hattula. He was an avid reader, passionate listener of classical music, and a frequent movie goer. In the early 1980's, via his "RGS" moniker, he was the reigning champion on every Space Invaders machine in town. He was a parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Ann Arbor, where he ushered at Saturday Mass, and was often an eloquent lector. Roger appreciated the natural and spiritual world through meditation, bird watching, bicycle rides, long walks in the beautiful parks around Ann Arbor, and growing flowers and vegetables in his easement garden. He took great pride in providing a welcoming home for his teenagers and their friends, presiding over many "come one come all" raucous Sunday dinners. He took special joy in making the best home-made bread, waffles and tapioca pudding for his beloved family and friends. Roger will be missed for his quiet sense of humor, his ability to listen deeply and speak from his heart.

Roger is survived by his wife, Hattula Moholy-Nagy; his brothers, Mike and Gary; his first wife, and their children, Marie, David (Joan Falkenberg), Elizabeth Sobrevilla (Dante), Andrew (Sarah Foster-Davis), Monica, Julia Hillery (Mark); and his stepsons, Andreas (Kristin) and Daniel (Natalia). Grandchildren/step-grandchildren are Corderro Johnson (Brittni), Ana Torres-Orta, Victor Davis Jr, Brandon Davis, Imari Hillery, Adrianne Sobrevilla, Victoria Sobrevilla, Anya Schneggenburger, Cahill Hug, Sebastian Hug, and Nikolai Hug. Greatgrands are Alana, Kameryn, Hadassah, Brandon Jr., Charlotte, and Korderro Jr.
