Ruth McClendon Obituary

Age 102. Of Jackson, GA. Beloved wife of the late Willie James McClendon; mother of Denise Y. McClendon; stepmother of Marilyn Waz; grandmother of William D. Jenkins, Mickayla G. Vaughn, Trevor J. Waz, Jesse J. Waz; great-grandmother of Olivia M. Jenkins; sister of the late Dollie M. Watts. She was a singing, praying, God fearing woman and faithful member to the Calvary Baptist Church for 65 years. She was the eldest member. She was a member of the Calvary Adult Choir as a lead singer and officer. She was a member of the Trustee Board of the church. She worked in various jobs throughout the Buffalo area. She was an Assistant Manager at Goodwill Industries where she retired in 1994 after 20 years. After retiring she became a foster parent in the Erie County Foster Care system. She was a foster mother to Bianca Morris, Mariah Foxwell-Black and Andrea Garey all whom loved her dearly and were at her 100th Birthday party. She is survived by the aforementioned family members, many nieces, nephews, cousins and church family. Family will receive visitation at Calvary Baptist Church, 1184 Genesee St., Buffalo, NY 14211 on Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at 10:00 AM. Funeral services to follow at 11:00 AM.
