My cousin Theresa, never wanted to miss a good party. I still have a bottle of four roses. She brought to my house for a family hooley one summer. We didn´t finish it but I saved the bottle because it reminded me of her.
Family parties in our younger years were memories to cherish with our parents, grandparents, aunts, and uncles, and all the cousins. The Clancy Brothers would be playing in the background and whatever song put my mother and aunts into a roaring laughter was something they wouldn´t explain to the youngsters. Yep, that was the real hooley! Running wild through the house, jumping on beds, full of coats (until someone scolded us) and playing records on the floor in Teresa´s bedroom. Those were the days.
Teresa had a sharp wit and humor of all good Irish women. She knew how to poke fun and take it too. Just don´t get her started on Irish politics or you´d be in for a raucous discussion. The holy land of Ireland was everything to Teresa.
May you rest easy now in the arms of the angels, Teresa. I can only imagine St. Patrick and St Brigid were waiting at the gates to pin a shamrock on you and the Shea clan, waiting for you at table, where it looks exactly like Ireland all around. Hug them all for us, sweet cousin! We love you.
Go dti´ gp gcasfar le cheile sinn aris.
Until we meet again.
