What shocking news! We all truely have lost a good and generous spirit with which I regret Susie and I had lost touch. How he managed to get married to Susan after the rather lengthy party the night before, is still a blur. So sorry.

Dear Susan and Family,
I am saddened to hear of Ted's passing. He was a fine man and a great lawyer. He was a great help to me in learning the profession. So kind and attentive. I think of him often.

The world is a smaller place without our beloved Teddy Burns. He had a wonderful knack for making friends -- at college, at work, wherever one encountered him. Ted was smart, gregarious, more than a little impish, capable of the occasional prank, a terrific tenor singer, and all around good company. He will be sorely missed.

Teddy Burns was a true gentleman. It is hard to imagine that he is no longer among the living. He will be missed, but the memories of his good-natured disposition will live on as long as those who knew him continue to breathe.

Dear Relatives and Friends of Ted,
Knowing Ted in college, I came away then (over 46 years ago) with the firm impression of what so many of you have mentioned now: that he was an exceptionally sweet man, full of good humor and goodwill.

Dear Family and Friends of Ted Burns. What a fine fellow and great friend he was to a lot of people at Hamilton. We sang in the Hamilton Choir together and I always admired that great first tenor voice - he excelled and I struggled! And he kept that great fraternity - Sigma Phi - afloat which at times was quite a task. My regret was that we could not entice him to be an AD!We'll miss that friendly, understanding and steady friend.

Dear Burns Family - I am very sorry to hear of Ted's passing. He was a great mentor to many young attorneys in Buffalo, as he had the rare combination of possessing a gentlemanly demeanor while still being able to tenaciously fight on behalf of his clients. He was a great guy and he will be missed.

Dear Susan, Brendan and Matthew,
Words cannot express our sadness. We will miss our dear neighbor Ted and remember fondly Jim's vigorous political conversations with him, the politeness, he often mentioned, his mother taught him and his gentle way. Be comforted to know that he has now joined his mother whom he mourned so much. Our thoughts are with you at this time and Ted will be remembered in our prayers.

I don't know if I have ever met a kinder and gentler man than Ted Burns. The world was a better place because it was blessed by that kind soul.
