Thomas RAAB Obituary
Of Orchard Park, at the age of 69 on April 11, 2021. Beloved husband of Patricia J. (nee Makey) Raab; dear Father of Patrick T., Brian M., Colleen P. (Ryan) Santacrose, Michael J., Claire P. and Timothy E. Raab; son of the late Albert and Mary Louise (nee Harrington) Raab; brother of Diane (Ralph) Hallett, Mary (John) Krzan and the late James (Judith) Raab; also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Visitation Friday, April 30 from 3-7 PM at NORMAN E. GANNON and SONS, Inc., FUNERAL HOME, 1075 Ridge Rd., Lackawanna, (824-4000). Please remember that face coverings and six foot separation are required. With the current capacity restrictions, your entry into our Funeral Home may be delayed. Thank you for the comfort and support to the family and your patience in following the Mandated Restrictions. Friends are invited to join the family for The Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Victory Basilica, Saturday, May 1st at 10:30 AM. The Funeral Mass will be Live-streamed at http://www.olvbasilica.org/live-streaming. Tom Raab will be remembered for his kindness, compassion, generosity, and zest for life. His enduring passion of caring for others was only surpassed by his love for family and friends. He was board certified in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases and a Fellow of the American College of Physicians. He held the position of Chief of Infectious Diseases at Mercy Hospital since 1982. Throughout his lifelong career with Mercy Hospital and Catholic Health, he held numerous hospital and system appointments, including Director of Mercy's Internal Medicine Residency Program, Chairman of the hospital's Department of Medicine, President of the Medical Staff, a member of the system's Acute Care Board of Directors, and most recently, Associate Chair of Medicine for Catholic Health. He embodied Catholic Health's values of Reverence, Compassion, Justice, and Excellence in the delivery of quality patient care, leadership, and professional interactions. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Tom's memory to the Thomas A. Raab, M.D. Memorial Fund. Please visit www.GANNONFUNERAL.com

I knew the Raab family from the dental office where I worked years ago and because I knew his excellent reputation, I requested he see my dad who was suffering from an infected open wound resulting from a pacemaker problem. Dr Raab saved my dad´s life and he lived many more years. I will always be thankful. Prayers for all his family, for comfort and peace knowing that he has left a great legacy.

Dr Raab was not only my mentor but a dear friend. I am who I am as a Physician because of his guidance. I am forever grateful. Patti , my heart goes out to you and the kids. His best achievement is nothing to do with medicine but his beloved family.

I will always remember him providing valuable EMT skills to Troop 400 boyscouts!
My son Kevin now 26 has used these very skills in his life many times over
He and his wife Patty brought wonderful energy kindness helpfulness to the boys and their families

I remember Dr Raab always being there for my Mom when my Dad was hospitalized. Dr Raab was the most knowledgeable, kind, considerate, caring person I ever knew. He was there for my sisters, brothers and Mom when we had to let our Dad go! Rest in Peace Dr Raab you will be missed. Prayers to your family.

Many years ago, my PC Dr referred me to Dr Rabb. I recall he was compassionate, and kind, listened to every word I had to say, and advised me on my situation and what to do. His patience and wisdom were my saving grace. I´m still waiting for the bill for that visit. Rest In Peace, kind sir.

I went to St. Leo´s School with Tom (Dr. Raab). I recall him as pleasant and serious. A good student too. Sorry to hear of his passing. My sympathies to his family.
