Mrs. Carl (Patricia) Bellas
May 28, 2009
I believe that Bill is a relative of my husband's family. My father-in-law, William Bellas, mentioned before he died of there being another William that would have been his father's (John) nephew. I am trying to put together for our children some of the history of the family since they came over from Greece and would appreciate any information to connect in some way. We are very sorry to hear of "Bill's" death. If he was in any way like my dear father-in-law, he would have had a wonderful sense of humor and a great loss to those who loved and cared for him.

I only knew Bill for just under two years, and unfortuneately i can't say it was that well, but i would like to share my little story. I'm 16, and a West Seneca Y.E.S. (Youth Engaged in Service), volunteer, and ever since August of 2007 i've volunteered a few times almost evey month at Seneca Manor to play either bingo or do crafts. The first time i ever volunteered there it was craft night and we colored pictures and then made what i believe was a sun catcher. I worked with Bill and another women named Margrett. After we were done i walked Bill back to his room and we made small talk. And honestly, i didn't think much of it at the time. The next time I went though it was for bingo and i happend to see Bill walking down the hall when i got there. After he saw me and smiled and talked with him for a moment, i realized he remembered me, and i ended up sitting at the back table with him and two of his friends, Norm and Si. And after that day, i began sitting with the 3 of them everytime i went or at the least-stopping at their table to say hello. And they always remembered me, and they have all been somewhat constant figures in my life since. I had the pleasure of sitting with Bill and talking with him for about a year at almost every bingo and some crafts. Unfortunately though, in the recent months Bill didn't go down to bingo or craft. I would always try to go down to get him or even just say hello, and sometimes if i had time i'd even color a picture or make him a craft. But whatever the reason, we would talk for a bit, and he'd always promise to go to the next bingo. Then as i'd leave he'd thank me for coming to ask him and i'd hear him still thanking me even if i was halfway down the hall. I don't remember how recent the last time I saw him was- sometimes in the last 2 months i believe, but today when i went down to visit him after bingo, i heard he had passed. This saddned me and it's weird to think he won't be there anymore, and i'll miss seeing him, but heven has another angel. To the family- i'm sorry for your loss. And to Bill-thank you for being my first buddy and for making Seneca Manor my favorite place to volunteer.
