Winslow Stratemeyer Obituary

Age 83, died at home in El Paso, TX on September 6, 2000. Born in Hamburg, NY on May 22, 1917, he graduated from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. He received his M.D. degree from the University of Buffalo School of Medicine. Following an internship at Mount Carmel in Detroit, MI, he served as a Captain in the US Army during WWII. After the war, he completed residencies at Johns Hopkins University, MD, Philadelphia General Hospital, University of Virginia Hospital, Charlottesville, Lahey Clinic in Boston and Baptist Hospital in Memphis, TN. After becoming board certified in neurosurgery, he went into private practice in El Paso in 1951 and retired 43 years later in 1994. He is survived by his wife Brigitte Stratemeyer, their son Andreas Stratemeyer of Las Cruces, NM and step-daughter of Carmina Miller of Scottsdale, AZ; his first wife Eileen Stratemeyer and their children Leigh Bognon of New Canaan, CT, Peter Stratemeyer of Chicago, IL, Catherine Herman of Westport, CT, Julie Vinikoff of El Paso, TX; and his sister Mrs. W.A.C. Greene of Gainesville, GA. In lieu of public memorial services, a private family service will be held. Donations can be made to Hospice of El Paso, 3901 N. Mesa, Suite 400, El Paso, TX 79902.
