Judy Hargis, 71, of Buffalo, Mo., passed away July 14, 2022, after a long illness at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Mo. Judy was born Aug. 17, 1950, the daughter of Glen E. and Fern (DeGeere) Scroggins.
Judy attended Hillcrest HS in Springfield, Mo., and Mansfield HS in Mansfield, Mo.
For nearly 43 years Judy worked for OACAC helping reduce poverty and improving the quality of life for families and individuals in Dade and Dallas County. First as a family resource specialist, then as the supervisor of the Dallas County Neighborhood Center for many years. She retired after more than four decades in August 2021.
Judy loved time with her family, adventures with her sisters, the outdoors, gardening, cooking, reading, and her dog Sissy.
Judy was preceded in death by her mother and father and two sisters, Glenda Maydole, and Margaret (Peggy) Lawrence, sister-in-law Alta Scroggins, and brother-in-law David Cargill.
She is survived by her sons, Doug Soden and his wife, Lucinda, of Pleasant Hope, Jimmy Hargis and Kristie Willis of Macks Creek, Wesley Hargis and his wife, Akia, of Buffalo; her daughter Dana Garrison and her husband, David, of Buffalo; daughter-in-law Betty Martin; grandchildren Bryan Hargis, Della Hargis, Taylor Blecher, and her husband, Brandon, Haley Soden, Wyatt Garrison, Koda Garrison, Harvey Hargis; and great-grandchildren Allea Hargis, Cash Hargis, Rosalyn Blecher, Penelope Holder, and Nevaeh Holder; a brother Tom Scroggins of Guthrie, Okla.; and sisters, Susan Cargill of Fair Grove, Joni Fenske and her husband, Rick, of Pierce City; and many much-loved nieces, great-nieces, nephews and great-nephews.
Services will be held at the O'Bannon Community Building located at 315 E. Ramsey St., Buffalo, MO 65622, Saturday, July 23, 2022, at 2pm sharp for all those wanting to attend.
