Patti Jeffery Obituary

QUASQUETON – Patti Townsend Jeffery, 92, of Marion, Iowa, formerly of Quasqueton, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 10, 2025, at The Views Senior Living of Marion.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday September 6, 2025 at the Quasqueton Union Church in Quasqueton. Visitation will be held for an hour prior to the service. The Reiff Family Center – Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
Patti was born July 25, 1933, in Manchester, Iowa, the daughter of Donald R. and R. Dessa (Maggard) Sauer. She was raised in Quasqueton and graduated from Quasqueton High School in 1952. Patti went on to earn a bachelor's degree in Home Economics from Cornell College in 1956.
That same year, on May 26, she married L. Neil Townsend in Quasqueton. Patti began her career teaching at Denmark High School in Denmark, Iowa. After moving to Cedar Rapids in 1962, she paused her teaching career to raise her family. Later Patti retired as an Inspector from Amana Refrigeration.
Patti was a woman of many talents, especially known for her exceptional skills as a seamstress. She lovingly sewed wedding gowns and bridesmaids' dresses for her daughters and did alterations on the side for friends and neighbors. Her craftsmanship was meticulous, and her love was stitched into every piece she made.
A lifelong reader and a naturally social person, Patti cherished spending time with friends and family. She was known for her thoughtful, handwritten letters that kept her connected to loved ones across the country. Patti was an active member of the Quasqueton Union Church and the Quasqueton Historical Society, and she took pride in organizing high school class reunions for decades.
After losing her husband Neil in 1998, Patti found new joy when she married Richard Paul Jeffery, Jr. in 2005. Their union brought added happiness and companionship to her life.
Patti's life was defined by her warmth, dedication, and generosity. She built a life centered on family, faith, friendship, and service, and leaves behind a legacy of love and quiet strength.
She is survived by her children: Theresa "Tari" (Michael) Robertson of Quasqueton, LaDonna Jindrich of Cedar Rapids, and Timothy (Lori) Townsend of Johnston; four grandchildren: Alyssa (Nick) Ciesielski, Gabriel (Bethany) Robertson, William Townsend, and Alexandria Townsend; and a great-grandson, Wyatt Ciesielski. She is also survived by her sister, Anita (Don) Bowden of Independence; many nieces and nephews; and countless friends from all over the United States.
Patti is preceded in death by her parents, Donald and R. Dessa Sauer; her first husband Neil Townsend; her second husband, Richard Jeffery Jr.; and a son-in-law, David Jindrich.
