Robert McMurrin Obituary

CEDAR FALLS – Robert D. McMurrin, 80, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, died September 23, 2025, with his children by his side.
A Celebration of Bob's Life will occur from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at The Crowbar in Independence.
Robert Dale McMurrin was born June 1, 1945, in Cedar Rapids, the son of William and Francis "Mae" (White) McMurrin. He attended school in Cedar Rapids and later in his childhood the family relocated to Otterville. This is where all the legendary McMurrin stories originated. Bob was employed at John Deere in Waterloo for 30 years. He has been enjoying his retirement since October 1994. Bob lived large and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and bootlegging his fruit.
Bob is survived by his four children: Michael (Steve) McMurrin of Des Moines Iowa, Robert (Jennifer) McMurrin of Hazleton Iowa, Heather McMurrin of Bolingbrook Illinois, Christopher McMurrin also of Bolingbrook; seven grandchildren: Kreston McMurrin, Chelsea Carter, Gage McMurrin, Tyrique McMurrin, Kathryn McMurrin, Nyali McMurrin, and Alexi McMurrin; two step-grandchildren, Blake Hoth and Brady Clark; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Roger McMurrin of Waterloo Iowa and DeWayne McMurrin of Stanley, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wives, Karen S. and Joyce; five brothers: Wilbur, Albert, Neil, Donny, and Norman; a sister, Pauline; and a granddaughter, Bailey.
