Melvin Ernest Revert

1932 - 2022

Melvin Ernest Revert, 90, passed away Aug. 22, 2022 at Grace Manor Care Center in Burlington.
Melvin was born May 15, 1932 and resided in the Burlington area for his entire life. Melvin attended Burlington High School and graduated with the Class of 1950. Shortly after high school graduation Melvin volunteered to serve his country by joining the Army where he was a Military Police.
Melvin married his wife of 63 years, Jeanne, on Feb. 21, 1958. In July of 1959 Melvin and Jeanne welcomed their daughter Marlinda Jean.
Melvin was a lifetime member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Burlington, and the Goodland Elks Lodge BPOE #1528.
During his lifetime he enjoyed bowling, golf, square dancing, bingo, playing cards, attending livestock shows and all types of sporting events.
Melvin was especially a fan of the Denver Broncos and attended many home games at Mile High Stadium.
Melvin was a Beef Superintendent at the Kit Carson County Fair for many years and supported 4-H youth by being a leader for Smoky Hill 4-H Club.
Melvin was a cattleman amongst cattlemen. He had an eye for quality and shared his expertise and experience in purchasing and caring for livestock with many partners and employees.
A highlight of Melvin's involvement in the agriculture industry was when he took a trip to Chicago and toured the Chicago Board of Trade.
Melvin is survived by daughter Marlinda and son-in-law Kyle Franz, grandchildren Kale Franz and MaKayla (Philip) Devlin; great-grandchildren Merrick, Emery, Asher and Briar; sister Shirley James and many nieces and nephews.
Melvin was preceded in death by his wife Jeanne; parents, John and Edith Revert; father in-law and mother in-law Clell and Georgia Sivey; brother-in-law Marvin James; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Earl and Molly Sivey and Ray and Virgie Lucke.
It was Melvin's and Jeanne's wishes to be buried together. A private burial will be planned at a later date for family and friends.
