Kenneth Asquith Obituary

Kenneth Ellis Asquith
Moorestown - Kenneth Ellis Asquith, of Moorestown, NJ, son of the late Ellis and Dorothy Asquith, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2021 at the age of 92. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Jeannette, survived by his stepson Kevin Jones (Annmarie), a daughter Sabrina, a sister, the late Shelia Sawyer who resided in England, four grandchildren, Dominick, Ronia, Scott (Stacey Shaw) and Alex (Ali Gregory), and a great grandson, Elliot. Ken leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, friends, neighbors, and former colleagues.
Kenneth was born in Lutterworth, England in 1928 and first attended school at the age of 5 in a village known as Shawel. Thereafter, he attended various schools in Rugby, Northholt, and Greenford from which he matriculated. His first job was an apprentice technician at EMI Research Labs in Hayes, Middlesex. He simultaneously earned his BSc degree from London University. Much of his electrical engineering experience was gained from his tenure at EMI.
Kenneth emigrated to Canada in 1957 and joined the staff of Canadian Westinghouse in Hamilton, Ontario; he came to the U.S. in 1958 where he was employed by RCA Defense Electronic Systems at various locations including Greenland and Alaska. Upon returning to New Jersey, he joined a startup- Ultronic Systems Corporation, where he founded the Service Division. Sometime after Ultronic was acquired by GTE, he and two associates left to form Datamedia Corporation, a developer and manufacturer of video display terminals. He was President of Datamedia from inception in 1969 until that company was sold in 1979. After a brief retirement, Kenneth became consultant to, and a Director of Datatel Corporation, a manufacturer of data communications equipment. Datatel was sold in 1987, at which time Kenneth formally retired and spent some enjoyable years traveling with his wife. Kenneth enjoyed tinkering with electrical and mechanical devices around the home and spent many years maintaining pond aerators at the condominium complex where he and his wife resided.
A gathering of friends and family will be held on Saturday, January 30th at Givnish of Cinnaminson, 1200 Route 130 North, from 9:00am to 11:00am. I met Mr. Asquith several years ago and found him to be the consummate gentleman offering a plethora of knowledge not only about business and engineering, but about life and humanity as well. He is dearly missed
