Michael O'Connell Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Michael announces his passing on June 6, 2019. after a courageous battle with lung cancer.

Michael loved history, science, sports, and anything to do with nature. Michael spent his adult life as a house painter, living most of his life in the Germantown section of Philadelphia where the O'Connell family has lived since the late 1880s.

Michael really loved his family and will be missed by his brothers, James and John (Julie), and his three sisters,

Sally Ginty (Paul), Margaret Mathauser (Bob), and Marianne Wright (Ron). Michael really enjoyed his relationships with his five nephews and seven nieces, along with his five great nephews and seven great nieces. Michael was the son of James O'Connell and Margaret (Margie Maguire.)

Relatives and friends are invited to greet the O'Connell family from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday, June 29, at Saint Vincent de Paul Church, at 109 East Price St. Philadelphia, PA 19144, where Michael's memorial Mass will immediately follow at 11 a.m. Interment will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers charitable donations in Michael's name may be made to Saint Vincent de Paul's, Inn-Dwelling or Face to Face Outreach.
