Allan Earle Remick

Southport, NC - Allan Earle Remick, 82, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 14th, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Burlington, VT to the late Earle and Lena Ayer Remick, he is predeceased by his brother Donald H. Remick. Allan graduated from UVM in 1958. He served his country as a Lt. in the US Army Corp of Engineers. He enjoyed a lifetime career in the Vermont Agency of Transportation, capping it off as chief district engineer, as well as being a part time land surveyor. Marrying his first wife, Colombe (Rouleau), in 1960, they lived in South Burlington, then Cabot where he served on the school board and the Cabot Volunteer Fire Department. Later, he lived in Putney, then moved to Cape Cod in 1998 marrying Lynn (Perry), where they enjoyed all the Cape had to offer. They moved to North Carolina in 2015. Allan will be remembered for his quick, Vermont wit, love of golf (a hole in 1), painting, bowling, gardening, and his enjoyment of family and close friends. Forever remembered will be Saturday morning pancakes; summers spent at our camp on Lake Iroquois; the sugarhouse Dad built in Cabot, supplying family and friends with plenty of maple syrup, poaching eggs in the sweet-smelling boiling sap, and pairing our mother, Colombe's, egg salad sandwiches, raised donuts, and pickles with Dad's sugar on snow; and last but not least, that quintessential Vermont right of passage, the annual pilgrimage to Deer Camp, where it wasn't about the deer (that's our story and we're sticking with it) but about connecting with family, friends, and oneself, deep in the Vermont woods. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Lynn, his first wife, Colombe and their three children, Stephen Remick and his wife, Anne, of Dartmouth, MA; Patricia Fisk and her husband, Kevin, of Conroe, TX; Scott Remick and his wife, Erin, of Conroe, TX; two stepdaughters, Shannon Verza and her husband, Patrick, of Charlotte, NC, and Megan O'Bryan and her fiancé, Pablo, of Wilmington, NC; and 10 grandchildren. A celebration of Allan's life was held in Southport, NC. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Parkinson's Foundation, www.parkinson.org.
