It does not seem like four years already. Despite the fact that he was a Red Sox fan, we were in contact here at McAuley Square. He is missed.

We are so sorry to learn of Doug's passing. Doug and I worked together for many years, which developed into a lifelong friendship. I learned early on, that when working with Doug, you had better be on the ball, because he did not miss a trick, and was not at all shy about letting you know if he thought you were slacking off. It was never dull working with Doug. There are so many fond memories, from the old days at Omega, with him and I and Duke at the "U" Mall, to decades later, in his retirement, when he would, on occasion, work with my son and I on rewiring jobs in Burlington. My family and I thought the world of Doug, he had a heart of gold, and such wide ranging interests and knowledge of so many different things, he truly was, one of a kind. We enjoyed his company so much, from family poker games, to his numerous games of UNO with Joanne, in which he was constantly accusing her of cheating and threatening to call The Milton Bradley Co. for the official ruling, or from his pulling in the driveway with his latest piece of furniture, unloading it and repairing it in our garage, or from his respected opinions and offers to help on household projects. Most of all, we just enjoyed talking to him. We will miss him more than he'll ever know, rest in peace my good friend.

I last saw Doug walking downtown this past year, we shared a few moments talking about antiques and auctions and about our mutual friend and colleagues, the Quinn family, with whom Doug worked when the need arose. A good man who will be missed.
Rest in Peace, Doug.

We were saddened to read of Doug's passing. Doug and Dave worked together as electricians for many years. He always tried to make work interesting, he was a great person to work with. They were nicknamed Gloom and Doom Electric by their wives, although they never got the joke!! We bumped into Doug at the eye doctors and had a really nice long visit in the waiting room. We didn't know it would be our last. He will be missed.

I met Doug through our shared hobby of "picking". He was always so polite and kind. RIP Doug.

Many laughs with Doug at the Electrical Wholesale House Twin State Electric. He was very chatty and inquisitive. I enjoyed countless over the sales counter conversations on many current events with Doug, and that grin as he shook his head exiting the door.
God Bless Doug on his next journey.

Dan Mark and families.
Doug was a good friend, and I have many fond memeories of our times together. Football behind Thayer School, rides on the Harley I bought from Ed Fenwick on Crescent Beach, Dougs 57 Chevy with the Vette motor, and trips to the Saxony Lounge in NY. North Beach with Charlie Stringer and the guys for many parties. Dougs white Corvette convertible, and living next to each other on Elmwood avenue. Good times the 60 and 70's, and I'm glad that I shared those years with Doug. A good guy, and great friend.

I too, am deeply saddened by this sudden and terrible loss. How do we go on?
It was my great privilege to have known Doug...he was a natural born teacher, was indeed very talented and outspoken, like his namesake General Douglas MacArthur. When he told me he was named after General MacArthur, within a month I met an old gent who had served under MacArthur and couldn't wait to tell him! Doug had integrity and was one of the best men I have ever known. He wore the great outdoors as his signature scent, he brought the sunshine in with him.
He was seemingly always happy and always, always willing to help.
Rest in peace and know I will see you again. They really don't make men like you anymore.
My heart goes out to all who loved you.
Peace be with us all.

Dear Dan, Mark and Families,

We are deeply saddened to learn of Doug's passing. I have fond memories of growing up in Burlington's new north end and hanging out at the McNayr house. Although we were unable to re-connect with Doug the past several years, he will always be considered a good and dear friend. He will be missed. Please accept our sincere sympathy for your loss.
