Eudell M. "Abie" Confer

Eudell M. "Abie" Confer January 1, 1936 December 18, 2013 Eudell M. Confer, 77, of Co-burn, passed from this life on Thursday, December 18, 2013. Abie, a son of the late Nevin and Anna Jane Rishel Confer, was born on January 1, 1936, in Spring Mills. After Abie's father passed away when he was very young, he was raised by his step-father, Robert Lingle. Abie was employed by the Penns Valley School District as a school bus driver with 30 plus years of service and he also worked at the school as a custodian. He served his country during the Korean Conflict in the U.S. Army, where he also obtained his GED. Abie was a member of the Millheim Fire Company. He enjoyed playing cards, watching Nascar, spending time at camp and hunting. Abie is survived by his longtime companion Frances Packer; his former wife, Mildred Johnson; four daughters, JoAnn Richardson (Dave) of Spring Mills, Brenda Wert, (Keno) of Pleasant Gap, Jennifer Leedy of Aaronsburg, and Tammy Coble (Mike) of Bellefonte; three sons, Keith Confer of Cadiz, OH, Robert Confer (Dawn) of Coburn and Richard Packer of Harrisburg. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, Tara, Samantha, Nathan, Adrian, Amanda, Kylie, Kristie, Victoria, Alyssa and Dalton; 10 great grandchildren and one sister, Mary Lou Duck (Richard) of Houserville. Family will receive friends on Saturday, December 21, 2013 from 10-11 am at the Steven R Neff Funeral Home in Millheim. The memorial service will follow at 11:00 am with Pastor Cass Harbach officiating. Abie will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery.
